What is D-BARF?
The D-BARF brand offers pet food for for adult dogs with the best possible quality, the recipes were designed by nutritional specialists, veterinarians and experienced breeders. D-BARF pet food is inspired by the Bone and Raw Food method. BARF is popular due to the pet food’s naturalness, full of “genuine” meat, fruit and vegetables, and minimising food allergies that often occur in the case of granulated pet foods.
- Proteins
- Saccharides
- Vitamins
- Fats
- Fibre
- Minerals
In all its pet food variants, D-BARF ensures there is a balance between the ratio of individual nutrients, i.e. proteins, saccharides and fats. The pet food contains suitable fruit, vegetables and herbs to supplement fibre, vitamins and minerals. The added additional substances that are necessary for an optimum balance in a dose of pet food are stated in the details for a specific pet food. At the current time, D-BARF sells 150g and 300g packages, where the smaller package contains small pieces more suitable for smaller breeds and the larger package large piece for medium-sized and large breeds. You can choose from 5 meat variants: beef, chicken, game, pork and fish.
Bone And Raw FOOD
Many dog owners, in particular in recent years, have been going over to raw food, which is made up of various accompaniments, meat and bones. Whether owners opt for BARF due to the desire to feed carnivores with the most natural pet food, where they know the ingredients, or bad experience with granules, then the decision is always individual in accordance with the needs of a specific dog.
You can prepare BARF pet food yourselves at home, but it requires advanced knowledge, so that you can give your dog all the nutrients, including minerals and vitamins, and not harm it through inappropriate ingredients. Although it is a good idea to use raw meat, some ingredients need to be heat-treated, such as potatoes, pulses and tomatoes. So assume you will need suitable storage conditions. Human and dog ingredients should not be together in a fridge.
The solution could be pre-prepared BARF pet food, where you only pay attention to its composition.
Points of Interest and Facts about BARF
It is not a good idea to swap BARF with granules and tins. If you decide to go over to BARF pet food, be thorough.
Young and healthy dogs get used to BARF faster than adult and sick dogs. The time it takes to get used to BARF is between 2 and 8 weeks. It is a good idea to start with smaller and more digestible ingredients, where you limit, for example, raw bones.
Meat should comprise the largest share of a dose of pet food, i.e. 50-60%. Proteins ensure the growth of muscle mass and the correct functioning of organs. Offal is desirable in a dose of pet food, but it should not make up the majority. You can include bones with meat on them, but only raw meat, in BARF. Heat-treated bones, whether boiled or roasted, have a different structure and their sharp fragments could damage a dog’s digestive tract.
Saccharides are a source of energy for your dog, so you should handle them carefully. If your dog does not have sufficient movement, excess saccharides could cause it to get fat.
Fats have a place in a dog’s diet. They are important because of fatty acids, energy and the absorption of vitamins soluble in fats. Your dog’s beautifully glossy coat will be your reward.
A dose of dog food for an adult dog in standard condition should be 2% to 3% of its current weight. In the event you need your dog to lose or gain weight, the dose equal to 2% or 3% is calculated from the required weight.
Why is D-BARF heat treated?
And why is our pet food heat treated, although the basis of the BARF method is a raw diet? Our vision is to bring a certain degree of comfort for a situation where you have no alternative but to feed your pets cooled/frozen meat:
- when you need to go on a trip and take your dog with you;
- when you are away from home and your dog is being looked after by friends/family who do not want to work with raw meat;
- for moments when there is no time, you’re not in the mood or you don’t have the ingredients in your fridge/freezer;
- if you are a beginner and are not sure about the correct composition of pet food that your dog should receive;
- and, simply, when you need to have a reserve.

In D-Barf pet food you will find only meat, vegetables, fruit and a supplementary element of vitamins and minerals for a perfectly balanced pet food.
-
Local Product
We want to have the whole production process under control, which we can do thanks to the fact that our production facility is in the Czech Republic, specifically in Strážnice.
-
We Support Environmental Protection
We attempt to ensure that our production is sustainable and to minimise waste. If we can, we use local suppliers, so that we don’t have to unnecessarily transport ingredients. Part of our range is designed in such a manner that it does not require cooling during transport or storage, which leads to savings and comfort for breeders. We make D-BARF drops from the unused leftovers of premium ingredients, so that we have as little waste as possible.
-
Verified by the Army
We have performed sterilisation using temperature and pressure in special packaging for years in our group for the production of army food - we developed it for the Norwegian army. We had to meet requirements for nutrition, taste, light weight and easy preparation in extreme conditions. We were able to reflect these demands and the experience we gained also in D-BARF pet food. You can therefore treat your dog to nutritious, exclusive dog food at any time on your travels, at any time of year and in any circumstances.
-
Better Handling and Storage
A number of our products enable easy handling and require non-demanding storage conditions. Treats in the form of snacks or drops are freeze-dried. Long-life complete pet food is sterilised in special packaging with a barrier and you can safely store it at temperatures of up to 25°C. All three types of pet food therefore do not require cool storage and their shelf life is 24 months.
-
Hand Production
Your pets deserve the best care, so parts of our production, such as completion, are done by hand. We create not only jobs in the region, but also exceptional pet food for your four-legged friends with love.
